3 Things: Auditory Inspirations! by Lesley Thompson

Since we spend so much time using our eyes for inspiration, I thought I'd highlight 3 things that can also inspire us through another sense, our ears!! These are 3 audio items that will expand your horizons!

1- Some Amazing Albums

Here's 4 albums I'm currently obsessed with. (Lana Del Rey comes out at the end of Jan, but a lot of the singles are on youtube!) All these artists are incredibly talented at their craft and I find them to be so inspiring. When I listen to them I want to go and be artistsic and and create somthing beautiful!

Florence and the Machine: Ceremonials

Lana Del Rey: Born to Die

Sbtrkt: Sbtrkt

The Black Keys: El Camino

 2 - Audiobooks!

There's certainly a stigma attached to audiobooks, but I'm here to tell you that they are amazing! When you are doing that mundane task like doing dishes, folding laundry, cleaning your room or on a long road trip, they really help make the time pass in such a pleasent way! The library has them for free, (they can be pretty spendy if you buy them) so go get a library card and load up! These are my 3 favs so far:

The entire Harry Potter series narrated by Jim Dale. Even if you've already read them, Jim gives the series a new energy and makes you appreciate it in a new way.

The book can be a little long winded in the beginning, but stick with it! It's way more interesting (and scandalous!) than the musical.

Written by Mel Brook's son, this interview based book recounting the zombie apocolypse is such a thrill. It will be made into a movie soon, so get the jump on it!

3 - Voxer voice texting

Voxer is an app you can download on your smart phone that acts as a sort of walkie talkie. It's like texting with your voice! The program records short voice messages and you can respond with the touch of a button. This is great if you are like me and hate checking your actual voicemail. You can exchange funny quips and pictures with your friends and family, but in a more personal way than texting!
