Trend Watch: Pattern Mixing by Leonard Major

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but pattern mixing is all the rage right now and it’s only getting better!  It’s a fun and (some what) easy way to amp up your “fashion street cred”.  One of the best things about this trend is that unlike most it can be translated to women, men and even home décor...but be careful, you don’t want to end-up looking like a crazy person. 

Here are a few tips to knock the socks off your fashionista/ fashionisto friends….

1. Try using a color story, it helps to make different patterns look cohesive.

2. Use similar types of patterns (ie. stripes, florals, geometric) for a uniform feel.

 

3. Vary the size of your patterns…it helps the eye to focus so you won’t be a walking headache.

4. If you want to mix patterns, but are afraid of going full tilt, sprinkle in a few patterned accessories with some solids until you get the hang of it!
