3 Films: by Miguel Martinez

Three films that I'm excited to see:
A Dangerous Method starring Viggo Mortensen and Keira Knightly. The story follows the deteriorating relationship between Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung. The year is 1904. Carl Jung, a disciple of Sigmund Freud, is using Freudian techniques to treat Russian-Jewish psychiatric patient Sabina Spielrein at Burghölzli Mental Hospital. This storyline has me completely captivated but I'm just as excited to see the historical costume design/styling on the actors as well.

Snow White and The Huntsman. Dark twist on a classic fairy tale. The Huntsman ordered to take Snow White into the woods to be killed winds up becoming her protector and mentor in a quest to vanquish the Evil Queen. Always a fan of somber direction and dark visuals to recreate old children stories but extremely disappointed for casting of Snow White. No matter, my biggest reason to see this film is for Charlize Theron whose acting and intricate costume designs will steal the show.

PINA is a feature-length dance film with the ensemble of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, featuring the unique and inspiring art of the great German choreographer, who died in the summer of 2009. Since I can remember I've had a huge appreciation for professional dancers be it ballet or lyrical, I truly believe it to be considered art.
